I am ensuring that we continue to deliver on our pledge to recruit 20,000 more police officers across the country, backed up with the powers they need to keep our streets and communities safe.
Last year, Nottinghamshire already welcomed 350 new police officers. I’ve been pushing Ministers for forces like ours, who were so quick in their recruitment drive, to be the first to receive additional funding.
I meet regularly with the Chief Constable for Nottinghamshire Police and monthly with the Chief Inspector covering Rushcliffe, to discuss local crime concerns and policing issues. Enforcing lockdown laws has been a big challenge for the police. I went out on patrol with them in West Bridgford in the first lockdown to find out more. I want to thank them for the incredible job they have done in difficult circumstances.
I will also be publishing a crime survey to better understand the concerns of Rushcliffe residents in both urban and rural parts of our constituency.
