At the Full Council Meeting of Nottinghamshire County Council today (19th December), Cllr Jonathan Wheeler presented the petition for a crossing on Musters Road by Jesse Gray School.
750 people have signed this petition, and Cllr Wheeler has welcomed the support of the local community.
Cllr Wheeler said: “The sheer volume of people who have signed this petition demonstrates to the Council the strength of feeling in the local community. I’d like to especially thank Fran Moore, Deputy Head Teacher of the School, for her perseverance and getting this petition off the ground.”
“I would also like to clarify some points made my some residents, around the ability to make this crossing happen. Just because my party is the ruling group on the Council, does not mean we can simply ‘nod’ through this scheme.
“I am sure residents would be worried if we could! Officers will make recommendations to the Communities and Place Committee, and all parties represented can make comments and vote. This petition I am sure will help show the need of the petition and I have already requested this crossing through the member request scheme open to all Councillors.”
“I would also like to thank Ruth Edwards MP, who has written a letter to the Council expressing her support for this crossing.”
