Here's my contribution to the Police, Crime, Sentencing, and Courts Bill debate that happened this afternoon.
In addition to telling the stories of some emergency services workers in Nottinghamshire who have been victim to abhorrent and cowardly assaults, I clarified exactly what this Bill will do to combat crime and champion justice.
When the Labour Party proudly proclaim that they are voting against this Bill, they are voting against:
Doubling the maximum sentence for assaults on all emergency services workers.
Tougher sentences for child murderers.
Keeping rapists in jail longer.
Tougher penalties for those who desecrate the memory of the fallen.
Labour are soft on crime, soft on the causes of crime and when they vote against this Bill, they fail to protect their constituents.
