Today in Parliament I asked the Secretary of State for Defence, Ben Wallace, how the Government plans to work with industry to preserve the UK’s world leading status in cyber security, and reinforce the Government’s commitment to protecting us and our economy from future cyber-attacks.
I am pleased that the Integrated Review which was announced on the weekend will commit to a new, ‘full spectrum approach’ to the UK’s cyber capabilities and develop a strategy to keep people safe. This will improve our country’s ability to detect, disrupt and deter adversaries whilst helping to assist other nations and strengthen our role in the world as a burden-sharing country looking at both national and international security.
I look forward to seeing the Defence Command Paper and the Defence Industrial Strategy next week and hope it provides further commitment to all domains of our defence system.
