I had the pleasure of meeting of organising and attending the 4th annual Rushcliffe Farmers' Forum. This year, the Minister for Farming and fellow Notts MP Mark Spencer joined us to discuss some of the opportunities and challenges farmers face in Rushcliffe.
I also talked with members of the NFU to discuss various issues, such as the introduction of new technologies and how schemes such as the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) can help to pay farmers to manage their land in an environmentally sustainable way.
With several big announcements coming on #BackBritishFarmingDay last month, I’m committed to ensuring our farmers are supported by encouraging customers to buy British when shopping online and welcoming the plans to spend over £270 million across the Government's farming innovation programmes before 2029. This will allow farmers to invest in new equipment where there is scope to boost their productivity.
