The deadline for the Government's Levelling Up Fund is now closed and I am very pleased to say I have given my formal support to 2 bids (MPs were previously only allowed to give their support to 1 bid).
The £4.8 billion fund is designed to invest in infrastructure that improves everyday life across the UK.
I have chosen to support a bid from Rushcliffe Borough Council for their scheme to improve active travel across the Borough and connect communities in south Notts.
I am also supporting Leicestershire County Council's bid for the replacement of Zouch Bridge which sits on the border of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. This is a key east-west route that gives resilience to the current A52 to the south of Nottingham and the A46 to the north of Leicestershire. The strategic importance of maintaining this route, particularly for HGV movements between East Midlands Gateway and the Freeport, and the significant development proposals around that location.
I look forward to seeing the outcome of the bids very soon!
