Lack of rural broadband is one of the biggest issues faced by people living in the countryside.
Since 2019, I've raised issues on behalf of residents on many occasions. I've also campaigned to improve the provision in particular 'not spots' and have met with broadband providers and ministers to push for improvements across our area.
With the announcement in the last few days, I'm delighted that large areas of Rushcliffe are part of the latest rollout of Project Gigabit.
This is the Government's programme to make sure we get gigabit capable broadband to areas where commercial providers won't install it due to high costs. It has taken gigabit coverage across the country from 6% to 80% since 2019. Although Rushcliffe already has 83% coverage I've been campaigning hard to get the 'hard to reach' parts our area included.
I'm pleased to say the latest rollout announcement includes:
Sutton Bonington
Radcliffe-on-Trent
Tithby
Cropwell Bishop
Cropwell Butler
Kinoulton
Widmerpool
Bunny
Gotham
Barton-in-Fabis
Colston Bassett
Upper Broughton
Barnstone
Langar
I will continue to push for other 'not spots' to have broadband solutions. If you can't get a decent connection speed, please email Ruth.edwards.mp@parliament.uk and I will add you to our database.
