Staying Safe Online

Coronavirus has been a public health emergency, but it has also tested our cyber security.

We’ve seen attempts to hack vaccine programmes, coronavirus related scams, lots of people working from home for the first time, and the spread of misinformation about the virus’ cause and cures.

This year I’ve been trying to help constituents stay safe online.

Through my Cyber Awareness Campaign on how to protect yourself, your family and your business.

I’m working with the cyber security industry to campaign to update the Computer Misuse Act, to make sure we have laws that are fit for the digital age

And through my work on the Home Affairs Select Committee I’m examining the roles social media companies can play in reducing online harms.
