Today I was on the BBC's 'Week in Westminster' to talk about the Police, Crime, Sentencing, and Courts (PCSC) Bill and violence against women.
I talked about the importance of knowing and understanding what this Bill will actually do to make us safer - and in particular, to safeguard Women. Among other things, this Bill will :
Ensure rapists stay in jail longer.
Introduce things like Kay's Law which enables Police to impose stricter bail conditions in high harm cases.
In addition, the Government's Domestic Abuse Bill will do an enormous amount to protect women and girls from violence by:
Outlawing 'Threats to Share' revenge porn
Outlawing non-fatal strangulation
Strengthening the ban on the rough sex defence
Introducing a Domestic Abuse Commissioner
