Data published today (25 February 2021) shows that rough sleeping has fallen 43% under this administration – with 2,688 people estimated to be sleeping rough on a single night in autumn 2020, compared to 4,677 in 2018.
So I asked Secretary of State for Housing, Communities, and Local Government, Robert Jenrick, if the £10 million announced last month by Government to support councils and their on-going efforts to prevent rough sleeping can be used to ensure that people who are sleeping rough or at risk of sleeping rough can access a COVID vaccine in line with the JCVI Priority groups.
He assured me that it could and that it is a priority for the Government to ensure all rough sleepers are not left behind during the vaccine roll-out.
