Great to be out with the Nottingham Soroptimists this morning in Nottingham City for their UN 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based violence.
Along with the Mayor of Rushcliffe and the Sheriff of Nottingham, I met with members of the Nottingham branch of Soroptimist SIGBI, many of whom are from Rushcliffe.
Look out for buildings across Rushcliffe and Nottingham lighting up orange to symbolise a bright future free from gender-based violence!
Fantastic to meet so many inspirational people committed to fighting gender-based violence and inequality! In addition to supporting women and gender equality here in the UK, SI are particularly committed to standing up for the rights of women and girls around the world
You may have seen earlier this month that the Foreign Secretary unveiled a campaign to tackle sexual violence in conflict around the world. This will see more than £20 million of new funding to help stop violence against women and girls around the world.
