Protecting our Communities and Countryside
I want to make sure we protect Rushcliffe’s beautiful green spaces and our communities.
Whilst we need to build more homes if our children are to have the opportunity we did of getting on the housing ladder
We need to make sure that future development prioritises brownfield land and don’t destroy the character of our rural communities. That’s why I made detailed submissions to the Government’s consultation on planning this year and to the Greater Nottingham Strategic Plan, arguing for stronger protections for greenfield land and new infrastructure to be built before new homes. I met with the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government to press these points
I’ve also supported campaigners to keep Lutterell Hall in use for the community and worked with Westbridgford Colts and Rushcliffe Borough Council to make the Colts’ ground an Asset of Community Value, strengthening protections from future development.
