A Freeport for the East Midlands
Since being elected, I have been working with local businesses, political leaders and fellow MPs on an amazing opportunity to bid for a freeport in the East Midlands.
A Freeport would allow us to take full advantage of our road, rail and air connections to deliver regional growth and regeneration, creating jobs and driving future commerce.
I have visited teams at East Midlands Airport and at the Uniper Site at Ratcliffe-on-Soar where the Freeport would be based to learn more about the bid.
I have discussed our bid with the Chancellor and organised for other East Midlands MPs and business leaders to lobby Treasury Ministers.
Freeports will play an important role in powering the UK’s economy and creating jobs.
I want to make sure that our region will benefit from this.
