I recently visited the A52 underpass just south of Sharp Hill alongside Cllr Neil Clarke MBE, who currently holds the Transport and Environment portfolio at Nottinghamshire County Council, to meet with transport campaigners Sue Jones and Steve Parkhouse of Nottinghamshire Area Ramblers and Hugh McClintock of Pedals.
We met to discuss the safety of the A52 dual carriageway south of West Bridgford between the Nottingham Knight and Gamston roundabouts for active travellers to cross. Due to the geography of the A52, walkers and riders have had to risk their own safety to cross the busy carriageway which offers limited opportunities for safe crossings.
I was interested to hear the plans submitted to Highways England, which includes improving the accessibility of this underpass. You can read more about this proposal and register your support by signing the petition created which already has over 1750 signatures: https://www.change.org/p/a52nottinghamjunctions-highwaysengland-co-uk-make-crossing-the-a52-near-west-bridgford-safe?utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=custom_url&recruited_by_id=72bf59a0-9303-11eb-ba12-390875dc6913&fbclid=IwAR0h67Gi2ZaLx06HCJCpssZolcccXcT4R7d7euKPcmfFqjX6auDSUkRQqH4
I look forward to getting an update from Highways England soon.
