Highways England hosted a call with local MPs and Highways England to receive an update on the A52 Clifton Bridge repairs.
Work is being carried out on the bridge 6 days a week and continues at the same rate as it was back in February. Highways England have reassured us that the pandemic has not slowed down their progress.
After an extensive investigation and further testing a final fix for the bridge has been identified which will ensure that the repairs are future proof.
Substantial repairs are underway by adding steel cables to the exterior of the bridge which will strengthen the structure and allow for easier maintenance of the bridge in the future.
Highways England are now looking at whether further lanes could be re-opened in coming weeks and months to help improve the traffic flow in the area.
