Protecting the Environment

Bringing skilled, green jobs to Rushcliffe is one of the best ways of preserving our environmental legacy. I am advocating for the development of a green tech park on the site of the Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station and the creation of a cleaner, green economy.

I have backed the new Environment Bill in parliament, introduced by the Conservatives, to mandate local councils to include food and glass collection in door to door recycling. This will ensure Rushcliffe's residents enjoy a more comprehensive recycling service. I have also supported due diligence measures to be included in the Bill which will protect our supply chains from illegal deforestation overseas.

Recently, I successfully lobbied the Government to bring froward the roll-out date of electric vehicles to 2030, which will ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars. I will continue to work with our local council and central Government to ensure we have the electric vehicle charging infrastructure to make a success of the roll-out.
