Thank you for contacting me about support for hospitality businesses during the Coronavirus pandemic.
I understand the difficulty the hospitality sector has faced in being required to close to protect public health. The Government has offered considerable financial support to businesses and recognises that the industry is keen to resume operating as soon as it is safe to do so.
This is why, no earlier than 4 July, the phased reopening of hospitality businesses will begin, provided that the public health criteria outlined in the Government’s recovery strategy continue to be met by that date and that businesses follow guidelines to manage risk in and around their premises. This means that, in the near future, hospitality businesses will be able to begin operating again.
Hospitality businesses have already been eligible for general business support including the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme. Specific support for the sector includes the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant (RHLG) and a business rates holiday for businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors for 2020-2021.
I assure you that the Government continues to monitor the support available for the sector.
